In a few hours, the town was shut down due to a deluge of heavy rains.
Monday September 29, the Montpelier region was subject to unprecedented flooding, with 300 mm of precipitation recorded in just a few hours. Approximately 2,000 motorists were trapped on roads and had to be evacuated to shelters Monday evening and the same number of people were stuck in trains and at train stations. CCR estimated that material damages were between € 100 and € 200 million. In this report, insurers, local government, insurance and natural risk experts explain how they handled the situation.
