CCR's estimate of the cost of flooding in Haut-de-France covered by the Cat Nat scheme updated to €640m.

At the beginning of January 2024, the inhabitants of certain departments in the Hauts-de-France region were hit by another series of exceptional floods.

CCR, as a public reinsurer, has used its modelling chain to update the cost of these floods for the insurance market, within the framework of the natural catastrophe compensation scheme.

This cost, initially estimated at €550m in November 2023, is now estimated at €640m, i.e. €90m more (including €75m of aggravation of November claims and €15m of new claims).

At least 50% of this estimated cost will be borne directly by CCR through public reinsurance.

CCR offers insurance companies operating in France, with the guarantee of the State and in the general interest, cover against natural disasters and other risks of an exceptional nature.

This estimated cost takes into account the data available to us to date and may be re-evaluated depending on feedback on claims from our insurance clients.
